El pasado 4 de octubre se realizó en el New Otani Hotel de Los Angeles la décima edición del Internacional Art Festival, evento que cuenta con la participación de artistas de todo el mundo, y en donde la Argentina estuvo representada por Graciela Nardi y Marisa Caichiolo. Sus trabajos fueron exhibidos esa noche, junto con los de más de ciento treinta artistas. Personalidades del gobierno y de la cultura se hicieron presente, en lo que se dio en llamar The 10th Internacional Art Festival. El Cónsul General del Japón Masaharu Kohno; el Cónsul General de Guatemala Fernando Castillo; Tatsuhiko Wakao, director de la organización The Lantern of the East y miembros de la junta de Supervisores de la ciudad de Los Angeles, presidieron el evento que tuvo como invitado especial al tango. No es la primera vez que nuestra danza representa a la Argentina en festivales. El tango se ha convertido en “embajador de la cultura argentina” por muchos motivos: en este caso, es considerado por los organizadores como una forma del arte -indiscutiblemente argentino- y que no tiene parangón con otras expresiones culturales. En síntesis: es un fenómeno auténticamente argentino.
El tango, como forma del arte, ha adquirido en los últimos tiempos gran respeto por parte de aquellos que dedican su vida a la cultura. Por sus diferentes ramas de expresión, por lo difícil de su aprendizaje, por el alto grado de aplicación que se requiere para su practica, y la belleza de sus formas, lo colocan en este momento en un sitial de privilegio, junto con otras disciplinas como son -en este caso- las artes plásticas. En el décimo aniversario de la organización The Lantern of the East fueron Mónica y Jorge Visconti quienes por parte de la American Tango Association, bailaron esa noche en un show que se dio en llamar Performance Art, que es una manera de expresar el arte a través del movimiento. En otras palabras, el arte en movimiento, para nosotros, se llama tango.
También hubo taiko, los famosos tambores japoneses excelentemente ejecutados por el grupo Zendeko. La Lantern of the East es una organización internacional que promueve la paz en el mundo. Su primer evento fue en 1996 en Corea y el próximo año se realizará en Bangkok (Tailandia). Este será el 11vo aniversario y American Tango Association ha sido invitada. Tal vez viajemos con ellos, estamos seguros de que viviremos nuevamente la emoción que sólo el tango nos puede brindar.American Tango Association & Lantern of the East
On October the 4th, at the New Otani Hotel of Los Angeles, the 10th edition of the Art International festival was held. Fine artists from all over the world, were at the festival, and representing Argentina was Graciela Nardi and Marisa Caichiolo, whose works were exhibited along with one hundred and thirty other artists. In attendance were government officials and cultural enthusiasts including the General Consul of Japan Masaharu Kohno, the General Consul of Guatemala Fernando Castillo, Tatsuhiko Wakao director of The Lantern of The East and members of the Board of Supervisors of the City of Los Angeles.
The special guest of the evening was “the tango”. This is not the first time that our dance has represented Argentina in high cultural events. The tango has become Ambassador of the Argentine culture for many reasons; in this case, the organizers of the 10th annual Art International Festival considers the tango an unquestionably art form Argentina, which has no parallel in other cultures but is an authentic phenomenon of Argentina.
The tango, as an art form, has acquired the respect from those who dedicates their life to culture and its different branches of expression. It is hard to learn, it requires a high degree of diligence to practice, and the beauty of the forms places the tango in the seat of honor and privilege along with other disciplines as in the case with the fine arts. In this 10th anniversary, Monica and Jorge Visconti whose represented the American Tango Association, danced this night one show that the organizers called performance art. That one form expresses art through the movements, in other words it is the art of the movement; for us is tango. The evening included taiko the famous Japanese drums excellently executed by the Zendeko Group.
The Lantern of the East is an international organization to promote peace in the world, its first event was in 1996 in Korea and the 11th anniversary will be held in Bangkok, Thailand. The American Tango association has been invited to participate in Bangkok and we will travel with them to live again the motion that only the tango can offer us. Ø
